The first thing I did this evening after work was slice up some peaches, toss them in sugar, and then cover them in a great, dry sauvingon blanc. It’s a perfect summer “recipe” (if you can call it that) I picked up from Orangette.
We’ll be in Bergen (and surrounding areas), Oslo, Dublin, and all over the Irish countryside for 2 weeks. Where should we go/stay/eat?

Change of plans: gazpacho it is. Using this recipe (via Food Network, via French Laundry). I threw in a seeded jalapeno, and didn’t bother measuring the garlic (just used a clove).
let’s add paper napkins, paper plates and plastic water bottles to the list while we’re at it.

loving my sister in law’s egg chairs… and lots of family time in Jackson over wine & bbq.

I talk a lot about food (here, facebook, pinterest, dinner parties). In particular, I love to talk about good food. Healthy, whole, organic, simple food. I could spend days reading Marion Nestle, Michael Pollan, Barbara Kingsolver, and Mark Bittman, and could spend hours wandering around a farmers market in search of the perfect combo for dinner. I could probably spend an equal amount of time yammering about organic farming, subsidies, and high fructose corn syrup, but stop myself after 10 minutes or so because, well, that gets annoying.
All this is to say: food is a passion of mine. good, healthy, sustainable food.
So, you can imagine my horror when I saw this line in a presentation earlier this week.
Trends: More customers seeking “real” ingredients.
“Real.” In quotes. As in, “they don’t care if it is truly “real,” just call it acai berry or green tea… I about died.
*lest you think I am a sell out… we were being presented to
